I was a bit surprised to see a message from this site in my inbox, because I didn't realize the board even had mass mail capabilities. So who sent it?
Oh, and...Hi!

Wasn't me either, but I'm still alive. Good to see everyone after a 15 - 20 year hiatus.

Yeah so I was bored the other day and went poking around in the Control Panel and saw the mass mail feature. I was surprised it worked as well! It would only allow me to send it out to a max of 200 people so I sent it to those with more than 31 posts which I figured would limit it to regulars.
The one thing I didn’t account for was if a user set their account to allow administrative emails, but it’s not like I have a mass selection feature to fix that.
Anyways it clearly served its purpose as it got you to swing by Drako, glad to see you old friend!
So yeah it’s 2020 we’re all in lockdown so what better time to revive this place lol!

Yep! Now to decide if I want to take it one step further to figure out how to check against the post count I mentioned earlier but who doesn’t have the admin email flag set.
But it’s great to see that discovery worked!

One of the problems with UBB, imho, is that it lacks an emailed daily/weekly digest or summary feature. If I don't visit Reddit, or StackOverflow, or any of the other forums I'm subscribed to, they'll send me an email with a summary of the things I've missed to pull me back in. UBB doesn't have that feature (at least, this version didn't). If we don't remember to visit...
I wonder how many of those emails bounced though. Since most of the accounts were from the 90's, you know there had to be a lot of Yahoo and Hotmail accounts in there.

Oh I'm sure a bunch bounced, unfortunately there's no way to tell from the Control Panel UI (and who knows if there's logs on the server, I've lost access to that FTP a long time ago).
There is an option to export emails...
