Interesting site. I have to confess, if I was to ever consider taking a hit out on someone I don't think I would even discuss it within 20' of my PC. I'm getting increasingly paranoid about who's listening in.

So anyway, find out anything interesting about the serial number thang? I forget what show I saw it on but it has ot have been on CourtTV, Discovery or one of those channels that shows true crime shows.

Miss you guys.

I was told a long time ago that the only sure way to get rid of the serial number on a gun is to drill completey through it.

I found this page that states they can use a variety of methods to restore the serial number or part of it. Look on page 9.

quote:
Common methods used by the criminal to alter or obliterate serial numbers are to grind off all
identifying numbers, stamp over existing numbers, or obliterate markings by using a metal
chisel to gouge around the serial number area. It is possible, using a variety of methods in the
laboratory, to restore some or all of the obliterated serial number.
