Car got stolen about 20min ago.

I'm actually of two minds about this. (I don't own the car, it's technically my fathers, I share it with my bro and sis while I'm in school).

On one hand, I'm really pissed that it was stolen. On the other, I'm kinda relieved in a way. It was set to be replaced (1995 Dodge Neon) and was kind of falling apart anyway. (The front struts were just replaced). We actually had a pool going on what would fail next.

Unfortunately, none of us had theft in the pool.

who would steal an 11 year old Neon? You sure it wasn't just misplaced?

That's what I said! Not misplaced though, my sister had JUST come back from a hockey game. She'd been home for about 15min, and was just going to bed when she heard the car start up.

Apparently though, that particular year is one of the easiest cars to steal.

I'm betting that it's a couple of idiots on a joyride. I couldn't see anyone actually wanting to strip it and crate it.

Not when there's a 2005 Durango next door, a Range Rover up the street a much nicer/newer PT Cruiser across the street, a couple of nice Honda Accords (new models), an MR2, a Mazda 3. . . in short, a bunch of much nicer cars for the taking.

Insurance. I would ___love___ for my Jetta to disappear. It's a lease, fully insured. If that car was stolen, my ins. co. would pay off VW and I'd be out of the lease..

*daydreams of not having to deal with VW dealer again*

lol!

My dad seems to think that someone at the shop where it was last serviced is marking cars. To which I responded. . . "11yr old Neon?"

So many choice vehicles on this street, why this one. Probably cause the douche can't drive stick and so couldn't take the neighbour's Pontiac Firefly.

They found it.

40min away in Port Moody (if you know Vancouver/BC that will make some sense to you). The brakes were smoking when it was located, and of course the ignition has been ripped out, but otherwise it's completely intact. (Lucky too, an eyewitness says the guy was trying to cross the median strip, and stopped just short of it instead).

That sucks but you don't seem too mad about it. More cars need to have a remote detonation feature.

Ecks, we're depressed that we're getting it back, it's not quite a complete POS yet, but it's close. The car is literally worth more dead than alive.

The perp was apparently hepped up on goofballs (he got away, but probably has priors).

My brother's Neon was stolen a few years back... cops found it a week later along with 7 other stolen neons in a dirt field outside of town... guess some kids have taken all 8 of em and had a neon smash up derby. All 8 were totalled. Cops said they prolly took the neons because they're so easy to steal.

Actually, sounds kinda fun.

gotta love BC...

Marijuana is EVERYWHERE (not that that THAT is a bad thing...but I gave it up now so )
Meth is EVERYWHERE
And if you can go downtown Vancouver and legally shoot up on heroin.

Makes you wonder wtf the government officials are smoking/snorting/injecting

The provincial government is trying like hell to make safe injection sites go away. Same with the pot. (Safe injection sights just make sense, if only as a means of trying to control a MAJOR disease vector)

That sucks that your car was stolen. It sucks more that it was found. A friend of mine at college had his car stolen and, in the UK, your car has to be missing for 30 days before the insurance pays out. The cops found it on the last day. It had some lovely new seat covers and did I mention that they gave it a new paint job.......with a paint brush!!!!! Yeah, he was pissed.

I've had wheels stolen and a stereo stolen so I kinda know what it feels like...it just sucks even if insurance covers it.

--------------------

Miss you guys.
