I have an Epson Stylus Colour 880 printer. For the past 5 or so years, I've been using the cheap generic ink cartridges - the ones that everyone says cause all sorts of problems, and yet I have never had a problem with them. Recently, I had to buy a new colour cartridge because my old one was empty and needed to print an essay (printer wouldn't print with an empty colour, even though the black is full). So, double the price later, I print out my essay and all is fine. Now I'm trying to print a second draft of a term paper, showing the changes I made in Word. Low an behold, the colour ink head is PLUGGED - it's a genuine Epson cartridge. If that isn't irony, then I don't know what is.-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

? WillyT ?Care to elaborate on that? 3 a (1) : incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result (2) : an event or result marked by such incongruity b : incongruity between a situation developed in a drama and the accompanying words or actions that is understood by the audience but not by the characters in the play -- called also dramatic irony, tragic irony 3a 1 and 2 seem to apply here. Well, I still think the websters definition of irony applies to my situation. It's interesting that the rant you posted in no way touched on Socratic Irony, exemplified by Peter Falk's Columbo character. It only touched on sarcasm and dramatic irony. I find it intriquing. I learned in Grade 12 what the three forms of irony are, and I was taught by a teacher who has probably studied more literature than I will come across in my lifetime.
