http://www.the-dorm.net/ Booyah motherfuckers.
I'm actually paying for this shit now and everything is on an actual web host (no jury-rigged URL forwarding to one of my shitty boxes), so please let me know if there are any speed problems. --------------------

The page never stops loading, and thus I never see the content.Firefox 1.0.7 AMD64 Debian Pure-64 Unstable -------------------- quote: Originally posted by FS: Wow, I can't believe I'm agreeing with FS on this one

Ditto.Btw, for a low-traffic personal site, there's no good reason that a home web server on a cable connection wouldn't have been sufficient. I've ran my site that way for years. You must have some other shit goin on.. like a runaway front page script or looped url forwarding or something. It's behaving the same exact way it was for me last week. Or perhaps your new dns just hasn't propigated yet? ~> dig the-dorm.net ; <<>> DiG 9.3.1 <<>> the-dorm.net ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 21160 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 2 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;the-dorm.net. Yes, there is a good reason to not have it on my home cable connection. The connection was slow and it couldn't be hosted on port 80, which caused some problems. I won't have to worry about uptime or that the site is down when I move my stuff. The DNS has propogated. I don't need to close the HTTP output stream because it's not necessary and even if it were, I don't open it to write to it. I'm bitching to tech support. Thanks for the help, guys. Could you guys try again? I think I found the problem: the html was linking to a css file on my old server. Since you guys can't get to it from outside my network, it was probably hanging the request until it timed out.If it's slow, could you post a tracert? Thanks.
