How do I get a WMV file that is stored in a text file into a playable format?

The file contains:

I tried cutting out the "data" and changing the extension to .WMV but that didn't work.

I should say that the e-mail contains a bunch of other stuff such as "This is a multi-part message in MIME format." I don't know much about MIME and all that good stuff but I am sure there must be a way to convert the file so that it's playable.

it's not actually for me. I was trying to help out someone on another message board. I could care less about a funny cat video.

After a little digging around it looks like the file was encoded and such bullshit. Yeah, when I was a little younger I would give more of a shit and try to figure it out but I like your idea a lot better.

shot in the dark here...

get mozilla or firefox and browse to the location on your harddrive (just add file:/// in front of the file's path and enter it in the location bar) then right click and save as from the directory listing.

if that doesn't work, I'll try to think of something else. (in the old days, it would have just been a matter of running it through any of a number of free uncook utilities since it's in ascii and you need it in bin)

Have you tried converting it in Forte Free agent? In fact outlook express should do it.

Any newsgroup reader actually.
