i've been tryin to get ringtones on my phone for free. i ended up having to order the internet on my phone (samsung e315 tmobile)i found the proggy xingtone which works, but now the trial expired dammit. it can edit mp3's and then it uploads it to a server, sends you an email w/ a link so you can download what you made. i also found another proggy called coding workshop polyphonic. you can edit midi's and then setup a server on your comp where you can enter it thru your phone and dl the files. there's another function in the polyphnic proggy where you can conver java games? does anybody know anything about the java games on cellphone thing? i'd like to get a few games on my phone. and if you guys have anyt recs on different progz to get songs on your phone lemme know. thnx --------------------

I've had a lot of success with yamaha's smaf tools for creating ringtones from midi and wav files. They have a product called SMAF Decorator that lets you tweak channel volumes, link LED and vibrator activity to midi channels, select from several tonality patches on a per-channel basis, and get a realistic preview of what the final ringer will sound like. I also use finale 2004 and windows sound recorder for trimming the midi and wav files, respectively, before building smaf's from them. Any midi and/or wav editor can do the job. The smaf tools require specific formats of midi and wav as input, but they are standard formats so encoding or resampling as necessary is simple in the off-chance that it's needed. You will need a way to copy them to your phone, though, like bluetooth or something. (I have an sdcard slot on my sharp tm150 so after I make the ringers, it's just a matter of copying them over.) I don't know anything about java or games for phones, though. sorry. -------------------- signature

I think the java games on phones only works for ones running the Symbian OS. AFAIK, those phones are only available in Europe (where they are lightyears ahead of us in the mobile phone arena). Those Symbian OS phones are awesome.-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Symbian has nothing to do with Java.Java is available on a wide range of phones, but it's quite true that in Europe Java is most popular, while in the Americas BREW is the market leader. None of our Samsung phones allow installing games through any other method than WAP download, dunno about your exact model. And yes, I'm in the make Java games for mobile phones business Grumpy, I get you a Texas Hold'em trainer game, and you beta test it and report any bugs? Strictly confidential. Interested? You will need to set up internet access on your phone first; first for WAP and then separately for Java games. Or at least that's how it works here. The Java game internet access thing is optional tho. -------------------- quote: Originally posted by FS: Wow, I can't believe I'm agreeing with FS on this one
