I usually laugh at "scary" movies cuz they are sorely predictable, and most times the subject matter just isn't scary. I thought 13 Ghosts was a great comedy. Scream? HiLARious. Blair Witch Project? I fell asleep. The Ring did nothing but suck. The Grudge was kinda creepy, but that's it. Silence of the Lambs was great but only cuz you spend more time trying to solve the murder than running from the murderer, and you knew Lecter was gonna eat somebody's something.

But the one thing I can't deal with is dangerous, erratic, unpredictable behavior from a character that isn't supposed to be the bad guy. This movie ranks right up there. Its more of a Law & Order meets The Exorcist, so there's not as much exorcising in the movie as you might guess, but there's enough. I recommend it if you're into scary movies or at least get scared with what I mentioned. As most movies, it has a corny moment or two, but overall the movie does a pretty good job.

If you want to look for more info on the real story, the chick's real name is Anneliese Michel. It took some digging, but even with the real name there isn't much English-translated info on the subject. The most you'll find I think will be in print.

Does this movie have the law and order 'donk donk'? If so, it'll get my 7 bucks.

*donk donk*

I actually heard this movie wasn't too bad either. I might go see it! And I agree about some horror movies being so bad they're funny.

I didn't think 13 Ghosts was bad (if I could, I'd build that house, minus the ghosts and blood and doorway to hell stuff), but it was great cuz we saw it 2 days before it came out at a sneak preview. The theater was packed and yeah, it was predictable, but 3/4 of the people freaked out almost every damn time, which made it more fun, IMO. I still like the movie. Tony Salhoub and Matthew Illard were great.

I said I liked it. I didn't say it was good, nor did I recommend it.

I can't watch scary movies. They give me nightmares :-(

I used to all the time when I was a kid and now I'm affraid to walk around the house at night without my 92FS (pistol with silver bullets) strapped to my chest.
