It works great! After splicing the wires together, I wrapped each one in a small piece of electrical tape, then wrapped it all up with a small strip of tinfoil for shielding, and tightened up the heatshrink. It looks pretty damn spiffy.

And it works. It fuckin RULES. The current gamepad I have is years old and craps out on me after random amounts of time during play. I know I could've bought a similar gamepad, but I just bought the quick-release portion of the cable, which cost only $5, plus I wanted a small DIY project today.

BTW, you can get those adapters dirt cheap now (in case you wanted pre-fabbed for the future).
