I'm thinking about buying a new car for work.

What do you guys think of a 1966 GTO ?

It would be for advertising purposes. Not souped up, not looking like a hot rod, just cherry, mint condition factory looks with our slogan on the side. In a market of 1500 realtors we are looking for different ways to set ourselves apart from everyone else.

Yes I know gas milage will suck.

I'm thinking GTO because it will not scare old women like a Cuda or a roadrunner but still offer a little nostalgia for my clients who are mostly 50+ years old.

I also know it will be prone to break down.

I'm pretty good with a wrench so I'm not too worried about it. Parts for old cars are pretty cheap. Old cars are also much easier to work on.

How about an 87 Accord. Its prone to not start and scare women of mid 20s away. Seen as practical by old farts.

Why buy a GTO if you aren't going to soup it up? A muscle car is a muscle car, they'll know what it is.

I think it's a bad idea to go with an old muscle car. A Hummer would draw more attention, although gas mileage would suck even more...

Gun turret thing is a semi operational $300.00 pile in a corner.

I bought the motors, I bought the controller card, I hooked it all up to the computer, installed the software and everything did what it was supposed to.

I have yet to build the stand and mount the motors.

When I was planning it I had all the free time in the world. Since the parts arrived I have been working 14 hour days, 6 1/2 days a week.

I may not get back to it till winter :-(

I'm waiting for flux to suggest a Delorean.

I suggest a 1966 Lincoln Contential 4 door. Suicide doors and all.

When I first saw the title of this thread I had a Rod Roddy flashback. I thought someone was going to be playing Plinko or bidding on a showcase.

Dude, you know what you need. AMC Pacer.

I had something pretty close to the pacer in College. A AMC GREMLIN :-(

My sister went to the same college I did so mom and pop thought she should have my car. I in turn inhereted grandmaws car. The Gremlin. I only drove it for a few months. One day at a gas station the driver side door fell off. A few weeks later the passenger side did the same thing. I had both doors held to the car with coat hangers and ducktape. You had to enter and leave through the hatchback.

Shit, since Delorean died, those cars are gonna be fuckin expensive now.

Just get a Lotus.

Actually, get one of the newer muscle cars coming out, like a Solstice. They're around $20K.

Engine, EcotecŪ 2.4L DOHC, 4-cylinder, SFI, aluminum (177 HP [132.0 kW] @ 6600 rpm, 166 lb-ft [224.1 N-m] @ 4800 rpm)

i do like the look (and power) on the new GTO... 6.0L 400hp v8 that may qualify as the muscle car.

i think a 66 would be a nice car to use... grab the attention of everyone around.

btw i saw the ugliest stretch subaru forester limo yesterday you could always try one of those

i drive a 94 cavalier.

i got bored a couple days ago so i smashed the hubcaps off with a hammer.

it's really cool, if you smack them just enough, then go drive around, they'll explode and fly off at about 60.

I drive a 2003 Jetta. 2.0L. Red. With hubcaps. And I drive it like it's a McLaren. How many people do you know that initiate 4whl drifts on every exit ramp? I can't wait until I wash out into a guard rail.

I've always liked Jettas, my friend had one and it was always really fun to drive and ride in. Just a real fun car to drive.

That sucks, I've put about 30 thousand miles on mine in the last two years (41 total) and I haven't had any problems yet. Knock on wood.

2000. I bought mine a month before Sept 11th with 19k miles on it when the loan rates were still high. The transmission died at about 40k, the fuel pump at 25k, 60k, and 82k, the lock barrel seized so the car wouldn't start at about 70k. oh yeah, wheel bearings at 35k and 80k. there's more... but i'd have to find my paperwork. the 1300$ extended warranty I bought paid for itself like 3 times over.

you know i still wvu, flux0r.

the solstice is more in a class with the likes of the miata, S2000, Z3, ect.

'muscle car' usually means a midsize car with a big powerful engine. mostly V8's, but i guess there are some six-cylinder exceptions these days.
