If you are going to join the military the Airforce is your best bet if you do not want to die. If you do not want to die and get paid good money for doing nothing while traveling around the world, do what I do. I am a Loadmaster on the second largest cargo jet on the planet. I get Hazardous duty pay, flight pay and tax free paychecks any month that I fly to or over a war zone. In my seven years of doing this I have been just about everywhere on the globe. I've even been to Ibiza on the governments tab. If you like Stip joints, whore houses, bars, clubs, and staying in 5 star hotels this is the job for you.
In seven years the worst thing I have seen was a mortar attack in Ballad Iraq and the shells hit 1/4 mile away. So for the most part you are pretty safe. You stand a better shot of getting STD's or alcohol poisoning than getting shot.

As far as actual work I spend an hour or two on the jet doing paperwork and supervising the on and off load of cargo. I sleep in flight and wake up in a new country ready to hit the next bar.
