Now that I got your attention...
Getting these installed on Monday. I JUST missed getting them today by 30 minutes since the truck left the warehouse already to deliver the daily goods.

New Tires

Old Tires <--talk about pieces of shit. Highly recommend AGAINST these. Not impressed at all. Should have been replaced out at 17,000miles because of bullshit treadwear. "Wearbars" showed through at about 19,000 miles.

When I was driving sports cars (300ZX, 240SX, Lancia Scorpion, etc...) I tried many top brands for performance tires like: Pirelli, Bridgestone, Yokohama, etc..

In my 25+ years of driving I've found that the best tire manufacturer out there is Michelin, hands down.

Now that I drive an SUV I still go with Michelin. Of course they are very expensive but who cares when it comes to handling and safety.

Just my 2 cents...

If they had more sipes they would be better for the snow. I had these on my last truck and they kicked ass in the snow.

Also high-performance tires normally wear out much sooner than all season or other types of tires, due to the soft rubber. In fact most high-performance tires do not come with a tread life rating. I've gone through some tires in as little as 25K miles.

The Michelin tires on my SUV have about 70K miles on them and they are still good for another 30K at least.

thing that pissed me off on those Eagles is I ALWAYS left rubber behind. If I looked behind me after a respectable launch at a green light...i would still leave rubber behind...and there would be no spinning (or chirps for that matter). They offered a horrible ride. Went through the treads way too soon...

I used to chew through a rear Michelin Pilot Sport in one day at the track ( < 150 miles). The entire left side of the tread, gone. Big chunks of rubber you can peel from the outer edge with your hand. Fun That's more of a street tire, tho. I run Pirelli Diablo Corsas at the track now. What an awesome semi-race tire. Quick warmup times, excellent feel, even in the rain. I'd never felt comfortable exiting corners like I do with these. There's nothing like feeling the asphault under your knee, looking at a 45' horizon, and feeling the ass end of that bike peeling away compound and leaving it on the tar you just passed. Is it spring time yet?

well, these are a much nicer ride. Some balancing issues to be worked out yet (which I didn't notice until I was on the highway this morning and running short on time for an appointment).

Ever so slight shim. I am just wondering if it has anything to do with me getting them to put the weights on the inside of the rim so there is nothing exposed on my mags.

Could have been just a n00b doing the balancing. Take it back and watch. If it seems to take a lot of weight have them deflate and rotate the tire 180* on the rim.

Snag - Static balancing (one side of the rim) is not nearly as good as dynamic balancing (both sides).

If it's a slight vibration then I would suspect it's because you went with static over dynamic. If it's more than slightly out then it could be that they did a shitty job.

On most of my sports cars I've had I always went with dynamic even though the weights would be visible. I would usually watch the guy and make sure he hit zero. Some guys think that 7 grams or less out of balance, is good enough.

One my Toyota SUV the outside of the rims will not accept a weight due to the design. In this case instead of going with static balancing I had them use weight tapes.

What they do is adhere the weight tape to the middle inside portion of the rim. It's not that visible and much better than static balancing.

I guess car tires aren't made as precisely as sportbike tires? A friend and I mount and balance all of our tires by hand (he has a simple balancing machine). I've never noticed vibrations, even at speeds in excess of 160mph.

I would assume more rubber means more chances of imperfections and a severely out of round tire. Interestingly enough, I work for Penske Truck Leasing and a few years ago we abandoned the practice of balancing steer tires on our big trucks unless they're not uni-mount. With uni-mount we just check the tolerance. If it's more than 0.060 out of round we try to get it closer by adjusting how the wheel is sitting against the hub. If after a few tries we can't get it under 0.060, we have our vendor mount a different tire on the rim. We call it match mounting and it does work. Also saves about a million a year in balancing costs. If the vendors don't want to play ball, we get different vendors.
