Not sure. 6.5%

Let him live. THAT would be the punishment he deserved as he was looking to die. Why give him what he seeks anyway?

If he was so keen on killing himself then why did he get out of the car? It doesn't sound like he was that keen on death after all (or maybe I just haven't heard all the details). The guy is a prick in every conceivable way. I couldn't believe when I heard the guy was on suicide watch! His hearing and everything that goes along with it is going to cost the American public a lot of $$$ and more money is being spent to make sure he doesn't off himself?!

Miss you guys.

People like that deserve torture...inhumane or not...just one day of excrutiating pain a month while serving a 10 year sentence.

Good thing they don't call me Mr. President

how much of a fucking piece of shit failure does a person have to be not just to fail at suicide but to claim 11 lives and send another 150+ people to the the hospital? I'm with snag. The death penalty would be far too soft in this case. It would be an insult to those who he killed and maimed.

The death penalty is just so retarded...

Oddly enough, I'm with Willy and Snag here. Torture should be available as a last resort for brainwashing serious repeat offenders who can't otherwise be made fit for society.

I say kill him, why waste any money on the guy? The only way I would have him processed in any other way other than death would be if the resulting cost was $0.

A 10 cent bullet would do the trick but our legal system is so fucked that it would end up costing millions in court fees.

seriously, why do we spend millions for a special "lethal injection room and and machine" when a bullet or two in the brain would have the same end result?

We should bring back France's National Razor, the Guillotine.

I don't disagree but the bullets are still cheaper and a bit less messy.

Death penalty? No way. He didn't set out to kill anyone but himself. I think he should get 3rd degree murder and whatever else they can throw his way. He may be able to get some of that chopped down due to his state of mind. If so, more power to him. No matter what, he'll always have the deaths of all those people following him around for the rest of his life.

If he didn't set out to kill anyone but himself, then why did he purposefully leave his car on the tracks?

I do believe that suicide by placing a quarter-ton object in the path of a train carrying many passengers actually does qualify as an intent to harm others as well. If he didn't want to harm anyone, he could have jumped from a bridge or a building, like a competent suicider.
