My wife's real estate office (a bunch of rich morons) know nothing about computers and artwork. My wife has volunteered me to do newsletters and advertising for them.
What is the best software for this task?
I made them some demos on frontpage and then converted them with Acrobat so they would print out the same from any printer but this was time consuming and a pain in the butt. They creamed their pants. They have been using MS word in the past. It blows my mind that with $200K +++ in income each they have been too cheap to hire anyone in the past to do this work for them.
I'm guessing Adobe page maker. Anyone have any other suggestions?

volunteered? I hate to ask this but what is in it for you (or your wife for that matter)? I mean, outsourcing it would cost...and no doubt there has to be some return...
I would say Pagemaker would be the way to go. Unless you want to go with MS Publisher MWAHAHAHAHA...last time I used Publisher was to print off some paper airplanes when I was in my teens lol

It's ok I don't use it. Our office mananger seems to like it but maybe it's just that she never tried anything better.
We stick to MS Office 2000 for many reasons. The main reason is that just about 100% of the companies we deal with like GM and Ford use it so we can email Excel/Word documents and they can open them, etc.

or company uses the Adobe Creative Suite it's pricey but the woman that uses it says it's definately worth it - before that we had been using publisher and an outdated version of page maker

Some of the advertising will be for my wife. Each million dollar house she sells puts 20K in our bank account.
In real estate if another realtor sells a listing that my wife has my wife still gets half the commission or 10K on a million dollar house just for listing it.
Once I get a couple of templates together it will be nothing but cut and paste. At that time I can go in and teach one of the secretaries to do it.

Thanks for the creative suite link. It's actually just a collection of all of the Adobe products including Pagemaker, Photoshop, Illustrator etc..
The only one that I did not already have is Adobe InDesign for page layout. I should be able to find a copy by this evening. If I really like it I'll talk the office into buying me a copy.

Ok, I have a copy installed. It looks Like I'm going to have to do some learning. good thing I also found a how to use it guide.
It only took me 2 years to get comfortable with photoshop.........

I just acquired this for a friend of mine as well (wednesday night in fact). They needed it for some specific reason or another. I personally use Quark Express for any page layout tasks that I may encounter.
Just fired up the InDesign for the first time. Maybe I need to find a book as well

After some tinkering (3 hours) I'm pretty comfortable with it and I like it more than any other program I've tried yet. I'm going to recommend they purchase it.

2x...I knew that much was in it for you. My question is this:
Are they expecting you to continually do this without remuneration? Or is it a trial run to see how it goes? 'Cause short term is being a good employee and being outgoing. Continually doing something for the company in your own time in which they would normally outsource is exploitation (regardless if your wife experiences increased revenues).
