So, after a while of use, what's the verdict? Are these things worth the price? How's the heat and noise section? Reliability? Anything special to remark? Complaints? What's your configuration (single, RAID, etc)? I'm thinking of upgrading the comps @ da office. Both Linux and Windows need to be reinstalled anyway, so might as well do that on a new HD (Linux because the first install was a bad choice, Windows because it's been over six months and it's simply time to reinstall). -------------------- quote: Originally posted by FS: Wow, I can't believe I'm agreeing with FS on this one

I don't have a raptor, but I have a WD Caviar 80GB Special Edition (WD800JB). Not as fast as a raptor, but from what I've seen, the WD Special Editions and the Raptors are about the quietest drives out there.Something like a max of under 40db at full read/write. -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.
