Would appreciate any hosting siggestions anyone might have. I'm not looking to spend a great deal as IncognitoX doesn't generate all that much traffic. However a decent amount a bandwidth transfer would be nice as I want to post images. I signed up a 5gigs.com and for that matter also applied at 4gigs.com but I really think I would like to just pay for the hosting instead of using one of the free ones. More freedom that way I figure.

I want to host www.incognitox.com there plus I plan to also host a subdomain (Something on the order of TVK Tech Solutions tvktechsolutions.com) although that name is not set in stone. It's just going to be a couple page basically static website for a local residential computer support deal I'm throwing together here in my community. You know, help PC dummies fix thier computers, setup wireless networks, virus cleaning etc. Typical stuff.

Anyway, hopefully in the low range area ($5.00 a month sort of thing?) Anything out there like that? I'm looking on my own and have found a couple of things but want the most for my measly 5 bucks as I can get

Thanx in advance
Dev

(IncognitoX will live again. Maybe in the form of a Postnuke site, maybe just a Frontpage deal. How knows at this point. Something will happen though with your help)

I use http://www.lunarpages.com/ , the package I get from them runs me 7.95 a month and with that I get

- 800 megs of space
- 40 gigs of transfer monthly
- php, asp, jsp, and perl support

What I really like is the monthly transfer, it's pretty high for how much I pay a month. The only knock is that maybe 800 megs isn't enough of storage but it's enough for me. At my last place I had unlimited and I never really went over 400 megs.

Lunarpages has had great uptime and they have a good support so if you have any questions you can just zip them an email.

Reccomended!

edit - also, it has a really nice control panel to show you web stats, automatic app installer (message boards, phpnuke-type portals, shopping carts, etc)

Heres my plan - http://www.lunarpages.com/plan1.htm and you can actually do a demo of the control panel right here http://www.lunarpages.com/demo/frontend/x/index.html

ohhh, I posted b4 seeing yours. 40 Gigs looks good. I have no idea of how much is enough or too much for that matter. I just don't want to see one of the "Bandwidth Exceeded" messages I run into from time to time. Thanx I'll check them out also.

Hehe. . . our clan site never gets those. . . lol, but we've gone over bandwidth. They just charge extra.

Thats one of the things also I like about Lunarpages, if and when you go over they don't auto-charge you like a lot of hosting places. They'll suspend the account and ask you first if you would like to pay the extra cash for the bandwidth.

Xanthan, that lunarpages place looks good and I am thinking of trying them out. Can you get any referral bonuses or should I just contact them direct?

Heh, well, the extra charges were from our old host, I don't know what our new one does.

Granted, the overage really only happened once, and it was thanks to the original 14 page Ain't She Fine thread in our photography section. It STARTED with a picture of a Geforce 4. . . it ended up looking like a sports illustrated swimsuit catalogue.

Hey Max, they do some sort of referall thing I think but I am not signed up to it yet. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Dev ~ Awesome, I hope you like it as much as I have. I know its hard to find a good hosting service on the internet, since there is a lot of scams and crappy services out there.
