took a test monday morning in biochem. Prof announced tuesday morning that the average was around 60 on the first third of the tests (all that he had graded by then), with a range from 19 up to 81. He announced that he finished all but two by this morning, and the average moved up and the range moved up to 88.5. I got the 88.5. Funny thing is, I put in no more than 90 minutes preparing for the test, never bought the book, never even looked at the book in the library. I didn't tell him that, though. Anyway, he announced to the class that he's looking for people to help to develop materials for various classes he teaches. All in all, about 10 people followed him to his office, myself included, and he had various projects to give everyone who was interested. Since I currently am working to develop laboratory procedures for the analytical chem class, he asked me to create illustrations and animations for his lab manual, web pages, presentations, and proposals. So in the fall quarter, I'll be taking two lab courses, my current job will be shifting to be for research units toward graduation, so that'll be like 6-9 units just of lab work, then this job, too (biochem lab, analytical lab, independent research, and a mathematica lab). And then lectures, too. I was planning on quantum chem, chemical kinetics, and electricity and magnetism (to raise my GPA in my physics coursework toward my minor). I'll probably shitcan the e&m, though. The guy teaching it is pretty worthless. -------------------- signature

Good deal sounds like it will be fun. I remember one time in college during a descriptive geometry class the professor told us the first day that he never scores anyone 100% because nobody is perfect. One day while handing out a recent exam he was verbalizing the top scores (which he always did) and mine was 100%. The class seemed confused about the 100% score as did I but he explained that I solved the problem in 3 less steps than the key. He had me illustrate my problem solving technique that day on the board and even let me teach portions of future classes which I enjoyed doing. After that day all the stuck-up jerks that never gave me the time of day started asking me for help. Of course I helped everyone (who was a hot chick). -------------------- ...

My thoughts exactly. And now, yesterday, I was in the stockroom and the guy that runs it comes up to me and says "Hey, Mike, we really like having you around here. You ask Dr. Laverman [the prof I'm currently working for] if you could TA the lab in the fall." So I say, well, I'm not so sure that could because I'm an undergrad. And he tells me, "well, just ask him. If he needs any convincing, I would be more than happy to write a letter and try to convince him." On top of that, I just got trained on the GC-TCD. More good resume shit. Man, this week has kicked ass. -------------------- signature
