we have an access (95 or 97 - i'm not sure) database here at the office and people can enter information into the database but it asks for a login when people want to make changes to the database itself. we want to extract information from this database into some new software that's being developed for the company but we need the password to open it. anyone have any access password recovery software hanging around? i did a search on the net but i can't seem to find anything that's free or could be made "free" =)

hmm - that's strange - it tells me that the selected file is not password protected.

i had installed advance office xp password recovery 2.42 demo version - couldnt find a reg for it and i get a menu when i open up the database:

Database Password:
[none]

Database Owner:
std user 'admin'

System Objects Information:

0F000001 Tables sys user 'Engine'
0F000002 Databases sys user 'Engine'
0F000003 Relationships sys user 'Engine'
10000000 MSysDb sys user 'admin'
etc...

most of the system objects are with sys user 'admin'

Have you tried just hitting enter (no password)?

If it tells you it's not password protected, it could just be that the login screen is a custom form set to auto-load (pretty common trick among access developers).

If that is the case, holding down shift while you open the DB will bypass any startup forms and show you the database window.
