Well I was sitting here in my infinite boredom and I just starting to think how long it's been since my last format/reinstall...

If I had to make the best guess, I'd say January 2003 (about the time I got my parts to start my P4 rig). And that is by far the longest I think I've ever gone. Since then I've been through a Mobo/processor/RAM change, a hard drive crash (my storage disk with the page file on it), 3 video cards, and God knows what else since then.

Not bad WinXP Pro... I tip my hat. How about you guys?

About a week ago. Boredom I guess. The build was well over a year old. Wouldn't defrag anymore. Kept recommending (when analysing) that I defrag the volume.

But that wasn't why I did it. Just said "enh" one night and backed up my Outlook.pst and documents on that drive (system drive) and blasted the 40GB disk and started over.

My FILES disk never got touched (except for the Halo, Max Payne, Max Payne 2,MOHAA, MOHAA Spearhead, MOHAA Breakthrough, Wolfenstien, C&C Generals, C&C Generals Zero Hour, Hitman, and Freedom Fighter) savegames I kept. The games had already been beaten on thier normal modes. Still working (as the mood hits me) on the Hard (and in Halo's case) Legendary modes.

So a week, maybe two tops

I can tell you the exact date. March 1st 2004.

Thank you systeminfo I remember I just up and decided to reformat one day. Before that,it would have been about a year and a half or so, trouble free.

I did it last probably over a year ago. But I'm going to do it again soo since I recently got an 80 gig drive and no longer have any need for fancy partitioning of the 18 and 20 I already had in here. (the 20 is of questionable reliability so I used it only for trivial data. I had a small C: partition on the 18 for windows and all my apps and important data on the balance partition of the same drive. Now I'll just make the 18 my C: and use the 80 where I have the data partition. yay for simple single partitions.)

The computer I'm using right now, I built in the summer of 2000 and it has never been reformatted or restored. Win98 too, heh.

My game/media/htpc computer on occasion I ghost back to the virgin install, but it's been running for awhile too as is, maybe since middle of last year I guess.

PS: Cac, the idea I had fell thru, but I'll email you about it anyway. Sorry I forgot to reply earlier.

Whether by plan or necessity, it usually ends up being every 6 months on this, my main unit. The other 4 get it whenever they get crudded up enough that the user starts to bitch about speed.
