Present!
Currently working full time programming for a company I worked for before. I'm programming Leap Pads, they are computerized books, really cool for kids learning to read. It's their own proprietary language, more like scripting than programming though.

Present!!

Same ol' Same ol'

Just having my lunch break right now. I asked my boss if we could work through lunch and leave at 3. He said he would think about it then came back and said sorry maybe another time, but he had a funny grin on his face. I think he might of been kidding. I bet he lets us leave at 3!

Woop!

Just came back from a business trip. I'm currently making and managing the production of mobile phone casino games for a client, while I manage the day to day stuff for the rest of the company.

Oh, and I'm trying to Master Computer Science by 2010. I should be about 30% this summer.

In the memorable words of Silvester Stallone. . . "YO!"

Heh, not doing much of anything right now, although I wish I was. Currently broke, sorta doing work for my dad, I had to move back home so it's not like I can get out of it, what with all the free food and a place to sleep etc.

TheKiller says I should apply for a programming job where he works. I was never much of a coder, but it keeps looking better and better. . . .

cy - we're really interested in a ranch in west boylston that's 239,500! that's one of the cheap ones that we've found. unless we want to live in the middle of nowhere out in western ma (or some place like leominster [i think i'm right on that one]) we're s.o.l.

j/k on the leominster thing - they're way expensive too!

Taking care of a kid counts for a lot.

Important work!

When women do it, they demand it be noted as the job it is. They want credit where credit is due dammit!

But when men do it...

Good Job, Cy!

Started working for Comau Pico, the world's largest manufacturer of automated assembly and welding systems. I manage and maintain a health assessment database for the different plants, and get sent out all over the country to do assessments. I get to goto NJ on Friday But that's just what I do during the day.

I actually started learning about microcontrollers and am in the process of designing my own animatronic pirate puppet. Well, that, and I roadie for my friend's band. We're going on a US tour this July, it should be cool.

With any luck I'll get a full-ride scholarship to Wayne State University for this fall, and won't have to pay for college. It's not the best Uni, but what the hell, it's free.

You call being a stay-at-home dad (AKA willfully unemployed) while your wife brings home the bacon being 'successful'?

Better start looking for that sugar mama now, chief.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't a legitimately-skilled IT professional make more annually than a librarian, regardless of gender? I'm not claiming to know what Ellen makes, but I've known a few librarians, and they weren't exactly driving Cadillacs. On the other hand, if you don't believe in education, I guess that nixes the $40K+ that you'd need to help your child's future.

Can I get that supersized?

I've learned more 'on the job' than I did in college, however most good companies won't even consider an applicants without a degree.

Yeah, thats true. Real life work experience is super valuable but the kicker is that to get that experience you will most likely need a college degree. Just take a look at the statistics for earnings versus a college degree holder and someone who just completed highschool. There is a pretty big leap in earnings.

To call school a "big fucking waste of time" is pretty short sighted. But I take whats posted from Cyborg with a baseball-sized grain of salt anwyways

i was thinking the same thing...if it was so successful, why do I recall not a single thread showing what exactly it is. You would think being an internet based business he would be spreading the word....networking is what creates success in any industry and any successful person (or one who is serious) will take whatever opportunity he can to promote his products or services.

...they want credit and thanks for what they do. Yes, Cy behaves just as you describe women, Outrider. It must be the nature of the "job" rather than the gender of the provider.

As for the value of an education, it is what you make it. Cy, I think if you took bookkeeping in high school, you'd have an idea of how to keep the books of your business. It seems you didn't or weren't able to take that class when it was offered to you for whatever reason.

I worked 5 years in libraries before getting my master's degree. Although a lot of the course work I did was based on what I had already learned on the job, I would not be able to get the salary I do without the degree.

FLux - My salary was approximately 1/3 more than Cy's when he was working in the IT field.

Good luck with your endeavors, Cy. I think I'll spare everyone's time and not bash your product, though I doubt it will become a cash cow. Unless you were referring to the adwords, which requires more work than it seems.
