It's been a while!!!

I'm sitting in the Kuwait Sheraton bored off my ass and thought I'd take a peek and see if any of you still posted here.

I'm on my way back to the states from a 2 day stay in Iraq. I was granted the opportunity of hearing the sound of Iraqi 52mm mortars as they flew overhead just last night. Things in Iraq are still quite ugly. The base I was at gets attacked a few times a day.

Why am I here and what does Bin Ladden have to do with Iraq?

Great to see you are all still here. I look forward to chatting with you all.

It's more of a terrorist thing as a whole than Bin Laden and Iraq specifically. Bin Laden is probably just going to ride the border of Pakistan from now on since we can't go in their borders to get him, and their services haven't really done a whole lot to get him.

I'm also wondering why we are so intent on looking for WMD when it was us who sold them the stuff to use on the Iranians?

Seems like the US plays by a very strange set of rules.

How many people in the US have been killed by terrorists in the last 2 years? Answer Zero, How many killed by cars? ?????? Why are we spending so much money on this and not making cars safer? Statistically which way are you more likely to die? Sounds like we do whatever the newspapers/magazines/government tells us to without questioning it.

Not that I mind the 60K that your taxes have given me this year for a week a month of work, but it just does not seem right...

I agree with "get Bin Laden back" for 9/11, but what did Iraq do to join the list of those responsible for the bombing? While I'm at it why do we always have to rebuild after we bomb? Why not just kick their ass and leave? It would have saved 600 American GI's in Iraq from being killed. We killed over 6000 of their civilians during our Baghdad bombing campaign giving the Muslim extremists reason to hate us for many generations to come. If you killed my parents and then took over my country (even if you did it for good reasons) I would wait for a few years and then kill as many of you as I could with a homemade bomb or sniper rifle.
One last gripe is that the current administration changed their story to "We did it to save all these Iraqi's from their terrible dictator". If that were true, there are hundreds of other countries that need our help and have lousy leaders. To top it off we do business with a number of these countries on a daily business as long as they have something that we need. I'm ashamed that our government acts the way it does. Nothing but a bunch of greedy self serving mother fuckers, both Dem and Rep.

The views expressed by 2x are not those of the us government or its military forces.

I have not really sampled the local Iraqi whores. We usually only spend a few hours on the ground before flying back to Kuwait or Spain. Spain = pretty good whores

C'mon ... that statement about zero deaths from terrorists in the last couple years is pretty insipid. You wanna call off all vigilance and security then bet your life nothing's gonna happen ? Be my guest, but don't go betting mine ...

OK, Lets look at how many people died in the 9/11 bombing. 2976, Thats a lot of people.

Now lets look at the people who died in traffic accidents, durring the 2003 holiday season, who were drunk, who were not wearing their seatbelts. 2568. Wow, thats a lot of people too! Now if we look at an average year in the USA over 25,000 people die in car accidents. Now which shold you be more frightened of?

Maybe Bubba and Cooter make you feel safer at airports security but not me. I think everyone on the jet should have a gun. You are less likely to do something stupid if you know 150 other people are ready to pop a cap in your ass.

Hell Jondster, you dont even live in a place worth bombing. What are you afraid of?

Cy you've always been a shoot first ask questions later type guy, this does not mean I love you but Why do these Arabs hate me? Could it be because we have used them all for whatever reason for the last 50 years?
I don't know as much history as I should but I know the US has a long history of screwing people and not always telling the truth. I believe we trained Bin Laden to kill soviets, We sold Saddam WMD to use against the Iranians, The bin laden extended family has strong ties to the Bush family and has stayed at their house in Texas. I don't know what is going on in Isreal but most Arabs hate us for it. I believe we had little reason to go to war with Iran to search for wmd because anything we may have found was probably left over from what we had sold them in the 80's Bin Laden and Saddam hated one another because their beliefs were so different. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11
Yes Saddam was a bad guy but there are other leaders alive that are just as bad or worse that our government does business with. How much money are companies like Haliburton making on the rebuilding of Iraq?

I'm 100% for our troops, obviously I'm one of them. If you looked at my pics you saw two body bags that I had to load on my Jet with my own hands. I love america I love our troops but I think our Goverment is pathetic.

As you know I like guns, I own a business so I lean towards the right but I really don't think we should be in Iraq, but now it's too late. If we leave now things will become even more fucked up. I think we will be there for a very very long time and thousands of our service member are going to die. I hope I'm wrong and in the end it is all worth while...

LOL...calm down, I feel the same way really. I just think that you can’t just wait around for terrorists to attack. We have to attack and clean house now.

I have no idea really what our love affair with the Jew is all about. Think about how many men went across the ocean to get gunned down on the beaches of Omaha. Waves of American lives sent to destroy evil and save Jewish folks and the rest of ungrateful Europe. Now, we defend Israel at all costs and lose more American lives. Who knows, maybe it really is about oil but I would like to believe that it is bigger than that. Hitler was one mean mother fucker though and I would have sacrificed my life to destroy him back then if I lived. Hitler was so close to owning the entire planet, his scientist and skull and cross boned death squads were relentless. It was a battle that had to be won. Terrorism is an evil that needs to be faced also.

Let's not forget who we are but let's not at the same time let politicians lie to us anymore. It's pretty hard to figure out but I like to have some faith in our government. I like George Bush's mom, you can learn a lot about a person by studying their parents. I just have "faith" that what is going on now IS the right thing.

Hey Mike ~ I don't fly as much as you do, but I fly more than the average person. And on usually one week's notice and from point A to point B to point C (not classic "round trips") so you can bet your ass I'm getting "strip searched" or the "special" treatment practically everytime I board. One time I inadvertantly had a furniture handle with sharp edges in my bag ... that got me "busted" in a hurry. TSA Gomers might be one step ahead of a Walmart rent-a-cop but their scrutiny manages to make my life miserable when flying.

So I've seen and experienced the security

Yeah, the Aye-Rabs don't know about Grand Rapids. There's a method to my madness.

I still don't get your link between drunk clowns and others who accidentally drive into each other relative to some other clowns who drive airplanes into tall buildings ...

I'm just an E-5 or SSGT, But I am a reservist and a flyer. I get Hazardus Duty pay every month, Tax Free every month I go to Iraq, Kuwait, Afgan, or north Africa (almost every month). I also get Per-diem for every day I'm out flying (usually $80 - $120 a day depending on where we are). Reservists also have a few nice scams to make extra cash that don't cost the Tax payer any extra money. It all adds up to 60K a year.

What are the scams you ask? If I lived outside of the local area when I was activated (80 miles from the base) I am allowed up to $1600 a month to find a local place to live.

I already lived in the local area but a friend of mine did not. He rents a room from me for $1200 a month. It cost the tax payer nothing extra because if he decided to live in a hotel room like a lot of the guys in my squadron it would cost the government the full $1600. I'm actually saving the government money by only charging $1200.
That's an additional $14,400 in my bank account every year for letting a flyer who is only there a week a month live in my house.

pay breakdown

Base pay $3700 a month = $44,400
Haz Duty pay $250 x 12 = $2400
Perdiem Average $1000 a month x 12 = 12000
Roomate pay due to AF rules 14,400

Actually thats more than I thought $73,200
And it's all Tax Free
