Fruxy, I think your best bet would be to get the Canon Powershot A70. Best Buy has it for $300, it's right at the top of your price range, but I think that it's probably the best one IN that range. Only 3.2mpx, but I don't think you'll find higher than that for $300 or less.-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Canon uses CF cards. And the A70 uses AA batteries.-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

I like Cannon, Nikon, Sony & Olympus. I have a Sony 4.1 megapixel which I really like. I bought it for $300.00 but it was a ad typo and should have been $400.00 but they gave it to me for $300.00. One feature I love is that you don't need to have any software installed to download the pictures. It shows up as a removable drive in Windows explorer where you can copy/paste or better yet cut/paste where you want to store the pics. My sister has a Canon 5.0 megapixel which she swears by and she has taken some professional looking pics with it. -------------------- ...

Why?Nikon is no different than Canon, Nikon just trades on it's name. Canon has the better lenses anyway. -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.
