let me start by saying that doing that is a total pain in the ass. I did it with a few movies and it literally took 3 hours of work per movie. It CAN be done, it's just a pain.

your best bet would be going to http://www.vcdhelp.com

Excellent information there. Good luck!

Get Roxio Toast. . .problem solved. . .oh wait. . that's only for Mac. . .sorry. You're screwed.

I think that Easy CD-Creator will let you drag/drop files and it will take care of doing all the conversions, but I haven't had an opportunity to play with it, nor Toast (mac equivlant), my mom has a DVD+/-RW drive (marketed as a Lacie external Firewire drive, but hardware ID is pioneer A06U ) on her mac, but she hasn't let me play with so that I can show her how it works.

they have managed to use current dvd burners with updated firmware to do dual-layer. the question remains, will they make these firmware upgrades freely available (not fucking likely!!) and what are the media going to run for. Until those are answered, I am still holding off. I wanna just rent, burn and return

So you obviously got what I didn't say Snaggles. . . that my mom doesn't want me playing with it cause she's afraid that I'll burn and return.

For those that don't know the significance of the A06: http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/8861

Nate...shut up

Besides, who cares about burn and return when you gotta slim down your movies anyway?

get a DVD player that supports DivX movies.

Seriously, they're not expensive and you'll be much better off in the end.
