Sorry. . .but that's repre-fucking-hensible.

Not only is that completely uneccessary, but isn't hunting Lions illegal? Score one for the lion trying to take that fucker out. If that asshole had real guts, he'd have gone after it with a knife or a spear at least. The sad part is, that it's a total waste for what? A trophy on your wall? Don't tell me it's for food, that guy doesn't look like he needs to hunt for food.

At least when my uncle hunts he eats his kills, even if he doesn't need to.

Sorry Willy. . .I can't like that video.

lets all go kill animals from a safe distance for no reason other then to watch them die.

i dont like hunters. being a climber i meat them often out in the woods. they are usualy drunk, and usualy tell me to wear more orange. like acid said, you want to hunt a lion, go get a knife.

That lion showed incredible fearlessness, I repect that. After being shot by those cowardly humans he still ran at them and took his best shot. The only problem was he was out gunned.

WillyT~ You really do have a part of you that you might want to keep in check. That lion could represent your feelings and frustrations with other humans. We wouldn't want to see you some day out of work, at McDonalds in full camo... gunning folks down.

I'm deffinantly against anyone who hunts for sport. And I agree, if you want to do it for the thrill then get a fucking knife and chase the thing down. 90% chance you get your head torn off. THAT would make things interesting.

Always makes me fucking sick when I see things like this.

it's from south africa. hunting lions there is encouraged as they'll overbreed and threaten human populations.

the reason it piques my interest is because it truly is deadly game. I don't have much interest in sport hunting or even in hunting my own food, mostly because I'm both cheap and lazy. Why go through all the effort when I can just go buy acceptable meat? But something like that video... that's just awesome. That guy was way lucky to have survived. A smarter lion might have gotten all 4 of them. You guys never have played much fps with me. Even in those, I had a strong preference toward playing with foes that present a challenge.

Willy you are missing some important points.

1) If it's for population control it's not a 'game'.

2) If it's for population control and not a 'game' then the shooters should be professionals not nitwits.

3) Regardless of why they are doing this and the legality, it's not 'normal' to enjoy watching the video especially when the victim is such a majestic specimen.

Also if it's for population control why wouldn't the tranq the lion and relocate it or kill it in a more humane way?

Just my opinion...

The adrenalive rush from almost being killed would be enormous. It's just the thought of a predator that is so dangerous.

You know what I like hunting? Bald Eagles. The way those things pinwheel and dovetail just exponentially raises the challenge of shooting them with a gun from a distance. Its especially fun when they're flying in a perfectly straight predictable path or perched because they won't know what him 'em! BLAM! Jolly good fun!

You know they encourage thinning out the Bald Eagle population because of their threat to the surrounding fish population, as well as the threat of their shit hitting human cars. If only there were fewer Bald Eagles on the planet, we would all be better off.

What is even worse are the people who hunt animals in a CAGE. have any of you seen this? they put a few hunters in a cage that is approx the size of a high school football field and let them hunt whatever animals they wish inside the cage.

wow! real skill involved there!

I find it ironic how some people get so bent out of shape over hunters, even "sport" hunters for that matter, but don't think nothing of the millions of animals that are born captive, treated terribly in cramped living spaces until they reach slaughter-age then having their miserable lives end on wholesale level quantities before getting slapped onto conveyor belts just so the people who get bent out of shape over hunters can get extra pepperoni on their pizzas.

If I don't see valid points, they can't see me! *hides under bedsheet*

I'm sorry outtie. Next time I'll specify normal pepperoni and not that Lion Pepperoni those evil bastards keep pushing. How dare they mutilate endangered species and process their meat into delicious pizza toppings! For shame! They should do that to a more common, unendangered and renewable animal, like pigs.

Seriously though, I know my sarcasm misses half of your point. I'm not a bleeding-heart PETA member. I'm a meat-eating animal. We're animals at the top of the food chain, so as long as nobody is endangering any animal to the point of extinction, I really don't care if people hunt. However, it's kind of sick, in my opinion, if they get their jollies from it instead of just getting food. I do not claim any responsibility for the jackals that mistreat animals, nor do I have any duty to claim any responsibility.

Actually, as a meat-eating human, unless you hunt and kill your own meat, then you are partially responsible for any animal that may endure mistreatment on its way to the slaughterhouse.

Hey outrider, longer time no see

I think it sucks that animals have to be treated like they do, genetic enhancement, cramped living coniditions, etc. But I was under the impression that conventional methods would not produce enough food to feed us. We are over populated and the food has got to come from somewhere.

Sure, I could buy only 'free range' animal meat but that is still not going to make a difference. Too many people , not enough food. I can justify eating a chicken that's had a bad life because it was put here to be eaten. Eating that chicken is keeping me alive. I don't think either of those people are going to eat the Lion, maybe cut off its head and put it on a wall but not use it. That is why it's harder for me to justify it.

Maybe we need soylent green

I'm not gonna join in a "pile-on" of flames for Willy T, every man has got to forge his own path in this world...

I don't mind Willy posting the video. In fact he is doing us all some good by sharing the knowledge regardless of if we like it or not.

I disagree with the suggestion that is is cool and it's insulting to our intelligence to say that there is an overpopulation of lions in Africa.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3047253.stm

However Willy has his right to his own opinion. Honestly I thought and possibly still think that he is half joking anyway.

I used to hunt small game and deer and I still think that type of hunting is good because there is an overpopulation of deer especially in states like Michigan. It's more humane than letting them starve to death or get hit by cars, etc.

Even sport hunting is not so bad especially if there is an abundance of the particular animal but how can anyone justify killing an endangered species?

Hi outrider - You have some good points regarding livestock, etc. Tongue in cheek perhaps.

Hi stranger - You have an excellent point too.

Good to see everyone here again, outrider, stranger, Rokz, Xanthan, Rvr, Flux, FS, etc...(plus the rest of you that never left)

Who's keeping the humans from overbreeding and threatening every other non-human population? 6 billion and counting, doesn't look like the efforts being expended to control population are being directed in the right area if you ask me. This planet is in need of some evil, rampant disease to wipe out a good portion of the human race so that Mother Earth can get back on an even keel......if it ever can. Sure, I know that makes me sound like a tree hugger but we've done more damage in the last few hundred years then any other species has done in the previous several million and the rate of damage is rising exponentially. Perhaps if humans didn't deforest large areas of Africa there wouldn't be such a large problem with animal populations "threatening" humans?

Just to be clear, I didn't say that I WANTED it to happen, I just recognise that it's something that would be of a great benefit to every living organism in general over the long term. Many people only think of things that affect them or their immediate future without stopping to consider the ramifications of their actions. Population growth at the current rate WILL seal our fate, we're just lucky enough for it to be beyond our lifetime.....probably. It saddens me to think that (1) there WERE animals alive on this planet until humans killed them off, and (2) there will likely me more animals made extinct before my grandkids ever have a chance to see them, they'll only read about them in books.

Still, as long as we have people out there controlling animal populations we'll all be safe.......
