Not bad except for the cold spots and the overly crunchy areas. =)

I like to cook at times but my specialty is making salsa. I made over 60 pints this year and gave away about half of them so far. I cold pack them so they are good for at least a year.

I tend to experiment a bit when I cook.

I made some Mahi-Mahi fillets the other day cooked with Pablano Peppers and served with a lemon-blueberry-cilantro sauce.

I like to make Chili this time of year. Mine is pretty traditional but I make it hot as hell. Then I add 1 or 2 Habanera peppers to my own bowl. Always served with flour tortillas from Mexican Town in Detroit.

Be careful with all that hot stuff, cac. I hit the hot wings and salsa so hard this past summer it seems I have developed a little GERD. Once the lining of the esophagus is inflamed it takes a long time for it to heal. Pepcid *gratuitous Merck plug* and other antacids do not do a thing.

I

do

not

swallow.

Good idea outie.

Man that takes me back. I remember almost passing out after hot kniving some 'black' corn beef hash. Screw that whole upside down whiskey glass on a thumb tack idea.

Last weekend was cold and rainy, in general just a pretty depressing weekend... so I whipped out the pots and made a couple batches of my chili... one spicy (for me) and one very, very bland (for the prissy little sig-o and the kids who can't handle the heat... buncha pansies! ;-)

It turned out just great... left it simmering on the stove all weekend long until there wasen't any left.

I love chili this time of year ;-)

I like to cook, but my wife doesn't let me.

I don't make "normal" food...when I cook I tend to scour our cookbooks and find odd (and usually expensive) recipes and have some fun trying something new. In most cases the dinners turn out well, but I end up listening to the wife gripe about the cost (what's WRONG with spending $100 for dinner at home?) On a few occassions, admittedly, I've made a few dishes that absolutely sucked (the last was Polenta with Beef with a Cream of Cucumber stew).

Like Serengeti, I've also got a love for REALLY hot and spicy food, but unfortunatly married a woman who thinks that a teaspoon of pepper in a gallon of water is "too spicy". My son seems to be like his mother, but there's still hope for my daughter (she's only nine, but popped her first jalapeno recently and only whined about it a little).

man speaking about sushi, I'm hungry. Been a while since I've done any. That would be a good ieda. Normally once a year I would throw a supper with my friends and spend 200$ (canadian dollars mind you) on a sushi supper and we would eat on the floor like traditional japanese. Very fun. Oh and yeah lot of sake too, last supper (lat year) i was totally drunk at the end of the supper, I couldn't even sit straight. As per japanese custom you cannot fill out your cup of sake, your friend must do it for you. So my friends make sure that my cup was always full. My last cup was water and I didn't even notice it before I finished drinking it. It was good and fun.

I just tried genuine ssushi and sashimi for the first time a couple weeks ago. It had a texture not unlike plumber's putty and tasted like the odors of a pier. I don't understand why it's so expensive. It was some of the least enjoyable food I've ever had and they make you eat it with those stupid sticks. The fried rice was pretty good there, though. Even if the utensils were far from optimal for the purpose presented.

I'm with Willy on the sushi subject. However I've had tuna steak before where the only cook the outer 1/8" or so of the fillet but the majority of the fish is raw. That can be excellent.

With wasabi! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

In our house, Cy is the pansy when it comes to spices. Thankfully, Henry, at only 2 years old, shows signs of appreciating spice and heat.

Grumpy: nope sorry never went there... I live in montreal, quebec, Canada. So its not everyday that I go to the US for Sushi!

Actually Sushi can be very delightful but it is so easy to get some bad sushi. As soon as the fish is not fresh enough, forget that, the sushi won't be good. And as for eating with sticks. Well that's a different culture. After so many years of eating asian food I am actually pretty good today with sticks.

The best sushis are expensive (most of the time). If you can find a place with a good price and good sushi, then that very good.

2 years ago I went to a restaurant here in Montreal called Mikado. They where rated as the best sushi in town. Man it was good!!! Sushi where served like it was a cocktail/shooter. We tried a B52 sushi which was a mix of raw fish, rice and rice krispies cereal and believe me it was very good. The supper cost more than 500.00$ for 5 persons (canadian dollars mind you :P). But it was my aunt who paid the bill!

man I'm hunry again. I hate these food topics!
