As some of you may have noticed, OICU812 and I have working on putting up a server to try to revive some of the "Good Ol' Days Fragging Shits & Giggles".Essentially what it amounts to is this: - O can provide a server on a broadband connection. All we currently need here is about $50 worth of SDRAM (512MB of PC133). Since Ron's been good enough to offer the services of his equipment and connection, I feel the other participants should chip in here. - The game(s) of choice could be Q2, Q3 or SOF2. Both SOF2 and Q3 can support Team Speak 2, which we think is an excellent idea as it would allow realtime verbal communciation (besides, my typing still sux) with only nominal addition of a microphone - similar to Roger Wilco. - If you wish to discuss SOF2 or it's aquisition, contact me via e-mail at jondster1@attbi.com or IM me via Yahoo IM "jondster", ICQ # 28173269. - Past this, all we need is players and a schedule. Any input you guys have would be appreciated, and please post any further comments you have here ... Where the hell is Outrider ??? Ahhh ... I was starting to wonder if everybody had left.Look. Apparently some of you aren't too good at reading between the lines. I said (above) "- If you wish to discuss SOF2 or IT'S AQUISITION, contact me via e-mail at jondster1@attbi.com or IM me via Yahoo IM "jondster", ICQ # 28173269 ". I suppose Q3 is still able to be used and most of us still have (mine's not installed because I just don't do it anymore) so that's negotiable. But I'm sure all of you could get a copy of SOF2 rather (cough)inexpensively -------------------- No Sig

Hi outrider - I am in the same boat as you except I have Q2 installed still. I play Q3 semi-regularly and have played SOF2 SP a bit but not MP. I guess I can do the SOF2 thing but I am more geared toward Q3 especially CTF. Jon - I still have not seen the email yet. That address you sent it too should forward to my comcast address. If you don't mind can you send it directly to: cacophonous@comcast.net Thanks again... -------------------- ...

GFK~ 21? And down on life? No need to be that way, my friend!Look at me, I am going to turn 38 in three weeks, and Jondster, well, um... nevermind! Like Drako said, you just need Doom3 to come out, and we will get this board hopping again! O -------------------- ============== vidi vici veni

Drako ~ SOF2 involves 2 full disks. My FTP site has only 500 MB available, so I'm out of the question.I have a CD here called "SOF2 Accessory Files". It has the Teamspeak2 client AND server programs, Punkbuster updates, QRadient, (something called a "key gen", whatever THAT is), the 3 SOF2 update patches (they have to be done sequentially), the ICS mod, and a couple dozen maps. Aren't WE one-stop-shopping ? -------------------- No Sig

See, it's just that you younger clowns just don't have the wisdom, experience nad "seasoning" I do ... and when you do, I'll have even more ...O ~ If you jump into that before we speak, note these points: 1. Have a CD key ready when you install. That's why I sent that list. 2. Install per instructions, then open CD #3 3. Explore to the folder "Patches & Crakz" and open 4. Sequentially install the patches 1.01, 1.02, and 1.03goldlite. The crack isn't necessary 5. Copy the "base" folder over into your game folder, just the same as you would for Quake. This will drag over 35 or 40-some-odd maps. (I never counted 'em as one is a "maps.pk3" which has multiples in it) 6. Open the game up and choose the icon in the lower left that looks like a monitor with arrows coming out of both sides and it's top. This is the "start a server" button. The rest is self explanatory for setting up a dedicated or undedicated server. Just make note of your IP so if/when you call me, I know where to go. -------------------- No Sig

Hi everyone! I fricked my game partition that had 30GB of good data on it somehow but have the capability to get pretty much any game as others do, so what is it going to be? How about starting with Quake2, the game that grew us all?Cheer up GFKiller, you are responsible for your view on life so get out the glass cleaner. It's a new day every day and life is good! Shut Up Tea Bagger!

Cy, I considered Q2 but the last time we tried this, a few people didn't have Q2 anymore. I realize we could do something similar with a game copy but, quite frankly, I think that after a short while we'd all be pretty bored with what is essentially a 7 (or more) year old game.If arguments over what damn game to use as a platform kill this concept, it only shows that the overall desire to recapture some of what "brought us together" isn't really that strong. Currently we have it established where 3 blank CDs and 2 or 3 bucks can equip you with a game and "all the trimmings" that's only about a year old and will presumably have some legs. If you can't afford that, I'd wonder how you're paying for your connection to play ANYTHING ... If we have Q3A tally in as a viable platform, well maybe OICU can talk his wife out of the gig or so it takes up on the HD. TeamSpeak works with it, also. "Nad Seasoning" ??? Find it in the spice section of your local grocery store. -------------------- No Sig
