Any good search engines could have given you the answer to this.... but let's face it I know "almost" everything...

So let me give you the introduction to one of the most popular tools for mapping out there:

GTK Radiant
GtkRadiant 1.2 is a level editor for Quake III Arena, Quake III: Team Arena, Quake III Arena modifications and Return To Caslte Wolfenstein.

And no don't ask me how to actually do a fu**ing map I don't know how. There is people better than me at this things.

There is the official GTKradian manual to download, which I recomend you do because it covers the basics.

Then do a few searches on the webb there are a lot of sites that describe more advanced methods of mapping.

Google ownz j00!

I actually made a Q3-map once...it consisted of a long hallway up to a "plateou" with a mirror under a beautiful sky.....

I never finished it, but it was actually not a bad start for my first map
And I spent some time admiring the different models in the mirror

Riv - Didn't you spend something like 2 straight weeks looking at yourself in that mirror?

I made a HUGE map. It didn't quite get finished as I added too many lights and then it never worked anymore

So basically the upstairs part of a school didn't have light, kinda ruined "Capture the Flag". Maybe someday I'll fix it.

Hehe, so easy to get side tracked when making a map! I tried mapping too, but the maps always turned out to be too small in the end.

Yeah, thanks alot, now you guys got me started again. I spent last night re-learning the basics of mapping.

Waaah, time consuming stuff.

I understand the part about time consumming stuff... I only did a test once.. spent 2 nights on it, just to make a simple cubic room with a light and 2 jump pad... Not my cup of tea. I don't have too much free time, I don't see myself starting maps for the fun of it. Even if I've got so many ideas, sometimes you have to make your choices...

That's true and well the thing putting me down was the fact that I know a few persons who have become professional game developers, since they were that good. I didn't quite meassure up to that...
