I don't know about anyone else here, but to be honst my bookmarked link points to these boards, and not Q3Arena.com. Months and months ago (maybe even last year) I wanted this site to be advertised a bit more but obviously that would have cost money.

I was thinking maybe Q3Arena.com could have a few more interesting articles and stuff. For example, a weekly skin, model, map or mod review. Or a rants feature where readers could send in their thoughts on some issue.

Months ago I tried to send in a POTD but when I received an error message in return I was disappointed.

Would anyone here be willing to contribute? Or are these all just pipe-dreams?

Sounds like you've given up GFK. I don't think that anyone will believe in a site, unless the mods and admins do IMHO.

What this place really needs is a broader membership base with more active members. My browser of choice has the main page set to it's startup page. The only way to attract members is to make the front door more attractive. To do that requires a overhaul of the entire site though. Anyone here a member of the Planetquake boards. . . if you are, plug this place as much as possible. . . that might help.

One thing I did notice, was that when the design of the site changed, membership fell almost off the map. The previous design was MUCH better.

True true, some kinda advertising would also be good. Still that will cost money... I don't know how possible that is.

I advertise Q3Arena.com every chance I get, and it's mentioned in every readme file I've ever created or had a part in creating. So far I haven't seen any results from doing that... hmm...

But I'd love to see this place with more features. PlanetQuake, 3DActionPlanet and Blue's News seem all seem to have basic news covered.

the biggest thing was the introduction of quake3world.com , everyone from every quake site moved there, it was linked with q3 install IIRC.

Maybe it would help if more people that were already members played Q3 or at least talked about it more if they already do. That in turn may draw more people to the main page. If I'm seeing things different than everyone else let me know but Q3 seems to be the least talked about subject here. Maybe if Horka Thane came back it would spice things up a bit.

GF Killer's right. I ran The BackBurner (doing the GFX and site layout) with Matt for about a year and a half now, and after a while you work out what a complete bloody waste of time it is, and what the REAL world has to offer - it's called money. And you recieve this money from doing the same work as you do for free on here.

So why do it for free? Because your nice? Well, shock-horror the only good trait to have in the real world is ruthlessness (is that a word?)

This is mostly the reason i don't come online much anymore too.

Sorry, i'm being such a nasty bum lately :|

Not true and highly negative. We all at girlsquared are writing for free. We don't get anything from it, except the good feeling of seeing our articles up there and knowing (hoping) we're helping someone. I don't write much, but I do when I have the time, and that's accepted and appreciated.
