I don't know about the RAM showing as 133. . . I don't have much experience with the DDR stuff. But if you want to make windows manage memory a little better:right click on My Computer, then click properties click the Performance tab Click the button labeled 'File System' Where it says 'Typical role of this machine' click on the drop down box and select network server. You'll have to reboot. Honestly though, you won't really notice much of a change unless you're doing REALLY memory intensive stuff. -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

<--Doesn't know much about hardware including RAM sticksHowever I could talk you through the swap file process. *lol* I feel smart now! yay! The reason why using the swap file is slower is 'cause it's using hard drive to act as RAM, and due to it's mechanical nature it's slower than normal RAM. Also, Windows automatically resizes the swap file as it is needed. This sucks and takes up time! By minimalizing the size of the Swap file and refuse to let it resize, you can speed up your computer a bit. I tried this on my 200 mhz and I didn't notice much difference! But now I'm on a 850... yummy yummy! Go to control panel, System, then click on the 'performance' tab. Click the "Virtual Memory" button, and a screen should come up being scary and warning you that playing with your memory files might cause windows to not work. ignore it! Your radio buttion is probably on "let windows manage my virtual memory settings". Click "let me specify..." If you have different drives or partitions, stick it on the most uncluttered one, this will help as well. Now change the minimum and maximum to the same number... I would recommend 60mb. Enough to get you out of trouble if your system needs more RAM. If your system crashes often after this, change it to a higher number. Hope I helped! -------------------- Draw a crazy picture, Write a nutty poem, Sing a mumble-grumble song, Whistle through your comb. 133mhz is the clock speed the RAM is running at.133mhz * 64 bits (bus width) * 2 (double data rate) = 17024 million bits per second bandwidth, or 2128 mb (that's where they got the PC2100 part) similarly, PC2400 ram is running at a 150mhz bus, and PC2600 runs at 166mhz, etc, which is totally wankable [ 09-07-2001: Message edited by: fear ] -------------------- *wank*

lol@Snag. . . don't you know. . . you can NEVER get rid of VM!Snag, I would advise against a gig of RAM, hell I'd advise against anything over 512MB. . . not if you like running win9x/ME. You'd have to entirely switch over to win2k. And you could pretty much kiss goodbye any 16bit apps that WILL run under Win2k (yes, there are apps that will. . . just the other day I ran Accpac Plus for DOS under Win2k) -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.
