Why would anything go smoothly in the computer world?!?!I installed the mobo and new processor no problem. MB has power, PC speaker has sound, got into BIOS and Windows. My IDE devices are being jerk-offs. My original setup was like this IDE1 - Primary: Quantum Fireball 13.6g Secondary: ZIP100 IDE. IDE2 - Primary: Asus CD-ROM Secondary: HP CD-R. I've used this setup for over a year on my old Abit BX6rev2 with no problem. My new ST6-RAID doesn't like it. If I have all the devices connected as I described, at power on the computer will do nothing but a delayed beep. If I cancel out my ZIP drive, the BIOS reads everything else, but here's the kicker... At the POST screen, the BIOS reads 3 devices, a HD and 2 CD's. At the next screen that shows system info (IRQ, DMAs, Processor Speed, Avail. Memory, IDE devices, etc., the screen right before the Win98 boot screen) all it reads is the HD and one CD-ROM, the Asus on the primary. Weird? No way.. The weird part is that Win98 only sees the Hard drive and nothing else, not even the Asus. Here's the best part though. If I boot the computer with a 98 boot disk, I can see and communicate with all 3 drives (keep in my the ZIP isn't connected anymore). What the hell is going on in my computer case? My devices are revolting against the new MB. How can I get my ZIP drive back on the slave road to the Primary HD. Also, if I format and reinstall Win98, will that solve the missing CD drive problem? PLEASE HELP ME!

Well. . . if you're using a 250watt PSU that could be it.Other than that, it's probably a device IRQ problem. Is the RAID controller disabled? I could see that causing a problem. I bet that if you check the properties of the c drive in windows. . . it'll be at least 100MB bigger than it should be. -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Heh . . . I had something similar happen when I setup my dual boot on my new drive. I made the mistake of making a Logical DOS drive on an Extended partition for the second OS(As opposed to two primary partitions). . . so when I boot into win2k it shows up as E: I can't change it for the obvious reason. . . I'll fuck Win2k up. . . it won't know where it is, and I'm too lazy to re-install.-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.
