No, not that thing where every body sings in Italian. . . the web browser.

It takes a little getting used to, but it's quite nice, and I am starting to really like it.

It doesn't like Shockwave or flash very much. .. it's weird cause it uses Nutscraps plugins. so I don't know whats up.

Oh well, it's still better than IE.

Never mind. . . it has to be okay with flash and shockwave. . . I just went to Parsout's site. . . if it didn't like them I couldn't do anything there. . . I guess some places don't recognize it as having the plugin installed.

What I really like is the DL manager, mainly the fact that you can usually resume your downloads.

Opera is also fast and it's memory requirements aren't too bad.

Yeah the dl manager is pretty cool . . . it's sort of like Download Accelerator without the accerlation features. . . I like it, and now thanks to me so does TheKiller.

only tried Opera when Nutscrape was being a bitch in linux. Simple browser...too simple though. It is however based on mozilla also hence its supposed plugin compatibility.

Opera is NOT based on Mozilla. It's an entirely different browser then NS/IE/Mozilla.

Yes, I know.. but since I'm about to install Linux this weekend or at the begining of next week, I though I'd ask about Mozilla. Heard that it's one of the best browsers for Linux, more stable than Nutscrape. Isn't Linux Netscape based on Mozilla btw?

I'm so exited, a friend of mine promised to help me with the instalation, I understood there could be some problems with NTFS support under Linux, so better to have an expert close by.

But once it's setup and working, I'll try to get to know Linux, i.e. f0x0r it by my self.

For the most part, NTFS access in Linux is limited to readonly. As far as netscape goes, it IS mozilla. Mozilla is the result of Netscape opensourcing their browser engine. Now mozilla just refers to the browser that use said code and it is still "Netscape's internal application name".

Once AOL got their grubby hands on Netscape though, they fucked it up royally. I mean, all you gotta do is look at what they have done with it. Netscape in Linux is just as bad in Linux as it is in Windows...but unfortunately, it is still the most feature packed browser for linux. The Mozilla/Netscape GPL page is at mozilla.org

Which is why you wanna use Mozilla, and not NS. Mozilla isn't owned by AOL (thank god), but NS6 is based off of it. Actually, I'd use Galeon (I think that's what it's called), it's a really slimmed down version of mozilla I've heard is really, really, really fast. I use K-Meleon at times for windows, which is kinda an equivilent to galeon.

I've acctualley read about K-meleon, but never tried it. If everything goes according to my plans I will be dual booting Linux and win2000pro tonight...

Let's see where this adventure takes me.
