I've moved... and now I can't get my computer on the network at the place I'm living at. I'm hooked into the 5 Port Hub, and I've made sure that I'm in the same workgroup, but now computers can see me, and I can't see the two other computers.
Can someone tell me exactly how to do it correctly? We have two computers that are capible of playing Diablo II, Quake 3, and who knows what other games we could play. Most importantly I need the internet on my computer for email/school etc.

I even deleted Windows 98 and did a fresh install. Nothing works yet!

I need yer help!

Thanks in advance.

i just had this problem last nite
i'm here in seattle throwin a small lil lan party
quake 3 and rogue spear heheh

uhm, try disabling yer dns
make sure you gots the same subnet (255.255.255.0)
and for your ip
like make sure all the numbers are the same except the last slot
like
24.11.172.12
24.11.172.13
24.11.172.14
ect. . .
geez
uhmm
make sure you have the
client for microsoft networks
hmm
well, let me know how it goes.
and we'll work from there
i have all my ipx and beui stuff going too. but i'm not sure if that's necessary. i just have that for the games

Ok, is it network neighborhood theothers can see you and you cant see them? Did it work fine before and nothing has really changed?
Windows is somewhat of an insulant bitch when it comes to networking. Try going START-->FIND-->COMPUTER

Very often network neighborhood is a bitch and doesnt like to refresh. Also, make sure they arent trying to log onto an NT domain (or any domain period). Also, for assigning them internal ip, make them exactly thesame except for the last octet all with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

If you need anymore help TK, call me on icq 4997372

after reading your initial post, I realized something. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR DNS as you will be connected to the internet though the schools LAN right? So mst likely youll get an IP via DHCP....so don't touch you dns/ip config for anything (UNLESS you installed asecond nic in your computer to have a private LAN)...now, again i make the assumption that they can see you in network neighorhood so if that is the case you have IPX or NetBeui installed...just make sure you all have ipx, netbeui and tcp/ip installed...but just try doing a search for them....cause like i said, WINDOWS IS AN INSULANT BITCH!!

refreshing doesnt always work...because WINDOWS IS AN INSULANT BITCH!!
You will probably have better luck just doing a search....once it finds it it should appear in network neighborhood....cause WINDOWS IS AN INSULANT BITCH!!

I prefer to think of windows as a smeg covered syphlitic vaginal wart on the tip of the rotting dick of humanity.

Ok guys, update.

Network neighbourhood doesn't find anything, and neither does "Find computer" STUPID MS

The Internet works now, had to get another IP address from Rogers@HOME.
Friggen RIP OFF....9.95 per month!
It's all because they use DHCP!

Is that all you have to pay is just for the extra ip?. If that's the case, I wouldn't bitch, there's lots of people that would love to have cable for 9.95 a month. If it's not the case, I apologize and everyone can disregard this message.
