ok smart guys,.. and gals, i'm trying to rename a bunch of files, that are supposed to be in order.

dbz_garlic-0089.jpg
dbz_garlic-0090.jpg
dbz_garlic-0091.jpg
etc.

need to rename to:

dbz_garlicjr-0089.jpg
dbz_garlicjr-0090.jpg
dbz_garlicjr-0091.jpg

yeah thats right i need to add the jr 'cause half the files have the jr.

now i tried
rename dbz_garlic*.jpg dbz_garlicjr*.jpg
but dos gets rid of the 00 and that is no good.

Yeah, I realize i'm posting this afew days after you started the topic, but in the future I'd suggest that first off you hide file extensions (View/Folder Options.../View/ then check off 'Hide file extensions for known file types')
Then type one of the filenames (dbz_garlicjr_0089) and copy (CTRL+C) it up to the last one or two characters, whichever you'd prefer.. then just open up explorer and click the first one, hit F2 (rename), paste (CTRL+V) the name, and use the keypad to type the last digits

Depending on how fast you are with a keyboard, and how quickly you can pick up a pace doing that, and moving to the next one it'd just take a minute or two
