How did the q3arena.com site start? Was it a q2 site first, with a name switch? Just curious because most people who frequent the forums appear to favor Q2. When I first started visiting, I assumed it would be mostly Q3. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all. Just curious.

www.quake2.com is what it used to be... I'm not sure how that started.... But I remeber once..... on the old board..... people would..... do this a lot.... for some reason... or another.... for a little while...

Ha, I remeber how I came across this site. When I had Quake2 on my P100 running at 15FPS I used to check out www.quake2.com but wasn't heavily involved then when I got my new PC I typed that url in and i aws zapped to what is now www.q3arena.com !!!

Thanks. That answers why there is so much Q2 stuff going on here, on what looked like a Q3 site. But why the switch, when Q3 is just a test, with the final date so far in the future? To get the q3arena.com name?

I started here when it was quake2.com, the messageboard back then wasn't even UBB and it had a lot of spam msgs for clans. Then they got UBB and the Tech Center was the main place to be... then later on the board was rebuilt and accounts lost and it turned to green (from gold and black) and the Outpost became the center of attention... then we moved to q3arena.com and lost all accounts again... then The Lounge was created and well, here we are.
The only people I remember from the old board is WillyTrombone and Drako and GFKiller...
Guess that was about a year ago... when I started playing quake.

I found this board by typing in quake2.com, and I found out the site sucked compared to planetquake, (No offense anyone), but that the messageboard here was way better than any of the planetquake ones.
I'm in the Matrix?

I found this place by searching for Quake2 info. I was hear before the Lounge when everyone stayed in the oupost. Of course I went by "Dickweed", then.

I remember posting at the Quake2.com message board... but only a few times. I think my first message I ever posted was something along the lines of "Why are the Q2 manual images in software mode?"

I've been here lurking for quite sometime, I think I first heard about it at PlanetQuake I think, way back when I decided to download the first Q2 point release. Later, after TheKiller started coming here, he told me that I should join up, so here I am.
