Ok Im new to Q3. I installed it yesterday. I also downloaded point release 1.32 then enabled punk buster, then I downloaded and installed threewave full 1.6.

When online, I set the rate /rate 25000 and /snaps 125.

This seemd to make it play a little better, however, when i use the keys to move, there is a delay on it. If I release the forward key, I will continue to travel in that direction for 1-2 seconds, which really imperes my game play.

HAve any of you any ideas on what causes this or even better, how to fix it?

Also, i have been told that all these downloads i have (including the eye that sees all) are all i need. However I cannot access the servers (Jolt.co.uk) marked RC2 beta 1.7. Are there more patches/ etc that I may require?

Id appreciate it if anyone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Well. . .for one thing, snaps should never be more than 40 but you can set your cl_maxpackets to 100 or 125 if you like.

Second, what kind of keyboard is it? I know at least one person that has had problems with q3 and the Microsoft Natural Elite (I think it was that one). He switched to a generic keyboard and it worked fine.

Concerning the Jolt US server it`s because they are running the Threewave mod version 1.7 BETA. You need the beta version to be able to log on the server. Check out the forum thread on the webpage of Threewave.com for more information concerning the beta version.

Ok as for the 1.7 beta, i had that but by re installing it i have access to the arenas. Ok the control jerkyness is related to a poor fps. I have found that i am only running at 50fps max. I have set all my graphics options to compensate, however myt gfx card is an intel 82810. I have updated the driver which helped a little.

What else can i do, short of buying a card cause my Dell optiplex gx50 has no AGP?

Is there anything else i can do to the card i have?

Has anyone else had to deal with this issue?

Thanbks

If your not too picky about video card you can always get a pci version. ATI do have some radeon pci version and it`s pretty good. Onboard video chipset is never powerful enough compare to a dedicated video card.

Thanks. I opted for the Nvidia Geforce 4. It has upped my fps to around 90 which is a lot better. Still haveing the key problems which ends up taking away the minimal frags I actually earn, by forcing me to jump ov er the edge and stuff, but ill learn to deal with it. Thanks for all your help guy.

Peace

is it a wireless keyboard? Even if it isn't, I would try a different keyboard. If you don't have another just pick up an el cheapo one from a surplus store.

after a few years the only problems related to gaming i have ever had with a wireless keyboard is the damn batteries dying in the middle of DM. Just make sure you do not buy generic Radio Shaft and FutureSlut stuff...
