How do I go about setting up a direct connection to play Q3arena with someone. I have tried to create a room but he says he doesn't see it on his list. When I click specify, it asks for an address?

Are you trying to play across the net or across the room? If you're networked together in the same room/house, install the IPX/SPX protocol in network properties on both machines and the game will show up under the multiplayer/LAN option for him. If you're trying to play over the net, do what grumpy said.

alright this may sound dumb but I'm new to all this. How do I find out my IP address?

Before starting the game open the command prompt, then type in (if you're running win98) winipcfg and hit enter (if you're running Win2k or XP) type in ipconfig and hit enter. Or just go here.
