have win98se, 2.0athlon 256ram, msi ti4200 vid board and randomly get kicked back to desktop any suggestions I'm not a computer wizkid

Are you trying to say that you want to run Quake 2, the expansion, The reckoning?
If yes, make sure that you have at least the patch 3.20 installed.
