hey guys, i'm on @home i've done this before, but uhh i'm having a problem when my friend hooks up a server, we can't see it on the lan . . . we have a switch hooked up to the cable modem.i can't find it on the lan, but i can specify the address. . . problem is tho, i don't get lan pings. . . i get a ping of like 90 soemtimes. that's messed up. before we got the cable modem, every thing was fine, i had a ping of 12, but now, its fucked, anybody have any ideas?? thanx g --------------------

i knew u guys were still alive!!!well, thank you all for your help. . . I think I may have found my solution.. It lies in our ip's. I think for this machine, to recognize the other as a lan machine in quake 3, is for it too have the first sets up numbers teh same . . for example 33.46.228.xx in my situation, the gave me 33.46.22x.xx I'm gonna give them a call, and request to get one of my ip's changed. I have already tested this out, so I know it works. and it makes some sense i guess. my subnet was 255.255.254.0 that shoulda hinted me something. thanks to you all once again, gotta love this board!!!, may be a lil slow sometimes, but still friendly, and reliable! --------------------
