Try uninstalling and then installing the latest point releases, you are describing the errormessage about "server is using protocol 45 expected 48" or something like that, which is usually caused by missmatching pk3 files in your baseq3 directory.

For some Quake3 mods check out PQ's Quake3 Mods page. The list is far from complete, though, as PQ isn't the be-all and end-all of Quake3 resources. However, there are a lot there. Otherwise just search for 'Quake3 mods' or something similar in any search engine and you're bound to come up with something.

You might have a few difficulties with mods, seeing as you're using a Mac. Not sure though...

And as for Mac point releases, they should all be available. Check out Quake3World and search around for their files section.

Otherwise give us a yell here.

Looks like the Gods aren't on your side today. Apparently for Mac users the latest version is still v1.29f. To quote PlanetQuake: "Still v1.29f for Mac."

There ya have it.

UHH, NEVERMIND
the new beta h is out
i dl'd it, but didn't test it out yet
not sure if it works with ra3, and i'm not too eager to find out
quote:
7-31-01 (version 1.29h)

Mouse sensitivity and wheel issues have been addressed
A known server crash exploit has been addressed
Frame rate should be back to normal for those that experienced problems
Installers will now give users the proper Pak files (this has been causing some connection and pure issues)
7-26-01 (version 1.29g)

Players joining (and apparently leaving) the game cause everyone to hitch
fs_handleforfile: none free ERROR
After last level of tier game doesn't stay on trophy screen, instead it takes you directly to next tier screen
No sound in NT 4.0 at all with 1.29f PR
There is a shader bug in Pro-q3dm6
developer cheats like R_Showtris have been disabled in the PR (they were never disabled, the user simply needs to run the game with “+set developer 1” minus quotes, at the command line.
made /startOrbit cheatprotected
Rcon issues now resolved.
fs_basegame isn't published to clients
fixedlegs command in the animation config is apparently not working
and – cvars fixed

1.29f Mac is 100% compatible with 1.29g, the fixes are almost all WIN32 related input/sound etc. There are no networking changes, QVM or othersuch evil things we've done in the pass to force everyone to upgrade. There's a forthcoming build that addresses the 1.29g build and that will be made available on all platforms, but meanwhile there will be nada zip zero no build of 1.29f for the Mac because we've already moved on from 1.29f.

And besides, we're working on DOOM. :-)

That's from Graeme Devine, as posted on PlanetQuake on 31/7/01.

Try here. I find it amusing that the official Quake3World site doesn't have the right files, but a third party, unaffiliated site does, like PlanetQuake.

Well first you need webb space for your image (Thanks Red!) that allows outside linking.

Then you need to make the image, and enter the URL to your picture to your profile. There is a link at the top of the page to modify your profile.

Raptom3- I can host your image if you want me to. Very simple to do.

All you've got to do is create an image in Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, The Gimp, even Paintbrush, I guess, and send it over. Just read the rules about sigs and stuff, as if they're too big they get annoying.

The 129 patch uses protocol 66. 45 was 117 and 48 is 127. Right?
