I have all kinds of cool software on my work PC that I would like to have available for home-use. Is there a way to copy my hard drive to an external hardrive, and install the software at home? Would "imaging" accomplish this task?

TB, sounds like you're trying to bring over programs. To bring over a program, you need these 4 elements:

Program Files (in C:\Program Files and System32 folder)

Registry Inclusions (CLASSES and SOFTWARE)

Profile and Common Files (Application Data folders in local profile and application specific files in Common Files)

Luck (and patience)

I've only successfully managed to do this once and I was in complete awe of myself after accomplishing it. I was also very high doing it.
