i just tried to network my printer so that both me and my roommate could print stuff.. didnt work.

here's our setup:

[shaw@home]-----[cable modem]-----[10/100 Switch]-----[my computer]
                                       |
                                       |
                            [roommate's computer]-----[printer]

is there a guide on how to setup a network computer? i asked acidwarp --i think.. but it didnt work the wya u told me

i'm assuming that u guys can read eachother

but you need to click on share file printing button . .
in the network properties

and then, when u install the printer, just click install from network, or lan.

Make sure you also right click on the printer in your room mates printers folder and click on sharing. Then it will show up under his computer when you go to Add Network Printer and you browse the My Network Places or Network Neighborhood.
